Neon Anacropora, Anacropora sp., is a branching stony coral recognized for its relatively slender branches, fine skeletal texture, and small corallites. This WYSIWYG specimen displays bright fluorescent green coloration across much of the branch surface, with areas of cooler blue to lavender coloration creating contrast along the branches and tips. The colony has an open, branching growth form that can develop into a delicate bush-like structure as it matures. Anacropora corals contain symbiotic zooxanthellae that provide much of their nutritional energy through photosynthesis, while their small polyps can also capture fine suspended foods. Under stable reef conditions, they can grow steadily and form increasingly complex branching colonies. Because species-level identification cannot be confirmed reliably from appearance alone, Anacropora sp. is the scientifically appropriate designation for this specimen.

Care Guide: Anacropora sp. generally performs best in an established reef aquarium with moderate to high lighting and moderate to strong, turbulent water movement. Provide randomized circulation that keeps detritus from settling on the branches without directing a constant concentrated jet at the coral. Place on stable middle to upper rockwork with adequate room for future branching growth. Maintain stable temperature, salinity, alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium, along with consistent measurable nitrate and phosphate. Most nutritional needs are supplied through photosynthesis, although very fine planktonic foods may provide supplemental nutrition. Gradually acclimate the coral to stronger lighting and avoid sudden changes in alkalinity or salinity.
